Title: Modeling noise induced resonance in excitable system: An alternative approach
(Submitted on 5 Oct 2009 (this version), latest version 16 Dec 2009 (v2))
Abstract: Recently, it is observed [Md. Nurujjaman et al, Phy. Rev. E \textbf{80}, 015201 (R) (2009)] that in an excitable system, coherency of coherence resonance (CR) may not be destroyed at higher noise level, if the destructive effect of the noise on the system can be blocked. This phenomenon cannot be explained from the present way of simulation of the model equations of excitable system with noise. In this work, it is shown that the above experimental result can be explained if the noise is allowed only to perturb the system control parameter and its destructive effect on the system is blocked. In this approach, the usual CR can be obtained from the interference between the system output and noise. It also explains the frequency shift in the noise invoked oscillations for the CR. Stochastic resonance can also be obtained by simulating dynamical equations with noise and a subthreshold signal by same approach.
