Title: Randall-Sundrum Models and Holography

Abstract: This Master's thesis will introduce the Randall-Sundrum RSI model and overview its general features and basic phenomenology, with the goal of understanding its 5-dimensional geometric structure in terms of its 4-dimensional AdS/CFT dual theory. We discuss mode expansions, boundary terms, field content, and supersymmetry, leading up to a discussion of the AdS/CFT correspondence in RSI models. Low-energy 4d Yukawa hierarchies and gauge couplings are understood in terms of the bulk 5d theory. A few simple Standard Model and MSSM-like constructions are considered, and their 4d dual theories are discussed. One new result is presented: the 5d bulk interpretation of the Nelson-Strassler mechanism of generating Yukawa hierarchies through renormalization group flow.
