Title: A Memory of Majorana Fermions through Quantum Quench
(Submitted on 2 Jan 2014 (this version), latest version 19 Jan 2014 (v2))
Abstract: One-dimensional p-wave superconductors has trivial and nontrivial topological phases. In the nontrivial phases the Majorana fermions (MF) exist for the cut of the system, also for the measurement of the entanglement spectra. We use the quantum information way to study the quantum quench of the 1-D p-wave superconductors under different quench processes. The topology of the steady states at the infinite time depends on an effective pseudomagnetic field from which one can obtain the Berry phase. The quench process will not be thermalized and carries the memory effect due to the fact that the effective pseudomagnetic field is composed of both the initial condition and the final Hamiltonian. The Majorana fermions always disappear when the quench process goes across the phase boundary. Quenching within the same nontrivial phase, the Majorana edge states are recreated at the end of the time in most cases, however, they can also disappear at some special quenching conditions.
