Title: Cyclic permutation symmetry and texture zeros in inverse seesaw : A minimalistic approach
(Submitted on 9 Jul 2015 (this version), latest version 30 Aug 2016 (v2))
Abstract: Within the framework of inverse seesaw mechanism we investigate neutrino mass matrices invariant under cyclic permutation symmetry with maximal zero texture (6). We explore two different approaches to obtain the cyclic symmetry invariant form of the constituent matrices. In the first one we consider explicit cyclic permutation symmetry on the fields in neutrino sector of the Lagrangian which dictates the emerged effective neutrino mass matrix ($m_\nu$) to be symmetry invariant and hence leads to a degeneracy in masses. We then consider explicit breaking of the symmetry through a dimensionless parameter $\epsilon^{\prime}$ to remove the degeneracy and it is shown that for $\epsilon^{\prime}<1$, this method doesn't support the current neutrino oscillation global fit data irrespective of the form of the charged lepton mass matrix. In the second method, we assume the cyclic symmetry invariant forms of the mass matrices are dictated by an effective residual symmetry of some larger symmetry group in the Lagrangian. Similar to the previous approach, considering maximal zero textures along with the cyclic symmetry in the constituents, in this method, the effective $m_\nu$ leads to a bi-maximal type mixing. As the charged lepton mass matrix is not diagonal in general, nonzero $\theta_{13}$ is generated thereafter from charged lepton sector. The scheme predicts a constraint range of the CP violating phases and atmospheric mixing angle along with an inverted hierarchical structure of the neutrino masses. Therefore the testability of the model crucially relies upon precise determination of the above parameters in future neutrino experiments.
