Title: The colored Kitaev chain with triple degeneracy
(Submitted on 19 Jul 2015 (this version), latest version 4 Feb 2016 (v3))
Abstract: We construct the 1D colored Kitaev model based on the solution of Yang-Baxter equation. We show that the colored Kitaev model possesses both triple degenerate ground states and non-trivial topological winding number. Hence, the colored Kitaev model is a direct generalization of 1D Kitaev model. On the other hand, inspired by the 3-body Majorana model proposed by Lee and Wilczek, we define a new 3-body Hamiltonian $\hat{H}_{123}$ based on Yang-Baxter equation. Different from the Majorana doubling, $\hat{H}_{123}$ holds triple degeneracy in each energy level. The triple degeneracy is protected by two symmetry operators of the system, $\omega$-parity $P$($\omega=e^{{\textrm{i}\frac{2\pi}{3}}}$) and emergent operator $\Gamma$, which are the generalization of parity $P_{M}$ and emergent Majorana operator in Lee-Wilczek model, respectively. Both the colored Kitaev model and $\hat{H}_{123}$ are SU(3)-like models in color space. In comparison with the Majorana models at SU(2)-level, we find that the SU(3)-like models are exactly the generalization of Majorana models.
