Title: The effect of polarization entanglement in photon-photon scattering
(Submitted on 2 May 2016 (v1), revised 8 May 2016 (this version, v2), latest version 12 Oct 2016 (v3))
Abstract: It is found that the differential cross section of photon-photon scattering is a function of the degree of entanglement of the two-photon state. For the example of Quantum Electrodynamics, an analytic expression is derived. The interaction between photons in the symmetric Bell state is stronger than between not entangled photons. In contrast, the interaction between photons in the anti-symmetric Bell state is weaker than between not entangled photons. It is shown how these results can be explained as an effect of quantum interference and that they fit with the idea of distance-dependent forces.
