Title: A high order approach for anomalous sub-diffusion equation
(Submitted on 15 May 2016 (this version), latest version 28 Mar 2018 (v3))
Abstract: In this paper we are concerned with anomalous sub-diffusion equation, which describes the anomalous diffusion phenomenon in nature. Based on an equivalent transformation of equation and a smoothing transformation, we propose high order schemes combining Nystrom method in temporal direction with (compact) finite difference method in spatial direction. The idea of smoothing transformation is inspired by the method for Volterra integral equation proposed by P. Baratella and A. P. Orsi (2004). The advantage of this approach is that it can get good convergence rate even though the solution is less regularity on starting point, while most of current methods cannot handle this situation properly. Also, numerical experiments are given to verify our methods' effectiveness.
