Title: Spectroscopic identification of conjugated polymeric phthalocyanines
(Submitted on 3 Dec 2018 (v1), revised 14 Dec 2018 (this version, v2), latest version 25 Dec 2018 (v3))
Abstract: Different approaches have been reported to synthesize conjugated 2D polymeric phthalocyanines (PPCs). The material is typically characterized by IR, Raman and UV-vis spectroscopy. However, the reported spectra of PPCs strongly depend on the conditions of the synthesis. In this work, we show that the spectral data obtained in some works should be assigned not to the target polymer, but rather to octacyano phthalocyanine (OCP), which is an early step of the reaction. We discuss the spectral signatures of the well-polymerized and monomeric PCs experimentally and support the spectral assignments with DFT calculations.
