Title: Towards a practical security analysis of continuous-variable quantum key distribution: new developments and limitations
(Submitted on 12 Nov 2019 (v1), revised 6 Jan 2020 (this version, v2), latest version 31 Aug 2020 (v3))
Abstract: Rigorous security proofs and tight bounds on the key rates of continuous-variable quantum key distribution have been obtained recently. These security proofs rely on assumptions that are hardly met in experimental practice. In some cases, deviations from these assumptions may be accounted for at the cost of increasing experimental complexity and control. Here I propose a framework to assess the security of continuous-variable quantum key distribution in a more robust way. My approach is as rigorous as it can be, given the mathematical tools that are available, and practical experimental limitations. This has the merit to unveil, and in some part resolve, the mismatch between mathematical models and experiments.
