Title: Two universal laws for plastic flows and the consistent thermodynamic dislocation theory
(Submitted on 10 Feb 2020 (this version), latest version 31 Mar 2020 (v3))
Abstract: This paper presents two universal laws for plastic flows of fcc-crystals deforming at constant strain rates and fixed ambient temperatures. The first law relates the steady-state flow stress with the ambient temperature and the strain rate. The second law necessitates the increase of configurational entropy towards its maximum achieved at the steady state. The thermodynamic dislocation theory consistent with these laws provides the excellent prediction of the stress-strain curves as compared with the experiments.
