Title: Boltzmann's $H$-theorem, entropy and the strength of gravity in theories with a nonminimal coupling between matter and geometry
(Submitted on 23 Mar 2020 (v1), revised 6 Apr 2020 (this version, v2), latest version 27 May 2020 (v3))
Abstract: In this paper we demonstrate that, contrary to recent claims, Boltzmann's $H$-theorem does not necessarily hold in the context of theories of gravity with nonminimally coupled matter fields if the effective gravitational constant increases with time. We also suggest a possible link between the high entropy of the Universe and the weakness of gravity in the context of these theories.
