Title: Asymptotic consensus in the Hegselmann-Krause model with self-delay and nonsymmetric interaction weights
(Submitted on 8 Aug 2021 (this version), latest version 19 Oct 2021 (v2))
Abstract: We derive a sufficient condition for asymptotic flocking in a Hegselmann-Krause-type model with self-delay (also called reaction delay) and with non-symmetric interaction weights. The condition is explicit and simply verifiable, requiring the delay length to be sufficiently small with respect to the initial interaction strength between the agents. We show that the convergence to consensus is exponential, with rate calculable as a unique solution of a transcendental equation. The proof is based on a decay estimate for the group diameter combined with a variant of the Gronwall-Halanay inequality.
