Title: Lorentz-equivariant flow with four delays of neutral type
(Submitted on 14 Oct 2021 (v1), revised 4 Dec 2021 (this version, v8), latest version 9 Dec 2022 (v16))
Abstract: To allow integration of the two-body problem by the method of steps, we generalize variational electrodynamics with a second time-reversible interaction along lightcones. The time-reversible equations of motion define a semiflow on $C^2(\mathbb{R})$ with four state-dependent delays and nonlinear gyroscopic terms. If velocity discontinuities are present, their propagation requires additional constraints, i.e., the two energetic Weierstrass-Erdmann conditions defining the boundary layer neighborhood where velocity denominators become small. Furthermore, the semiflow includes an inversion layer where attraction turns into repulsion. In order to display the boundary layers, we discuss the motion restricted to a straight line by the initial condition.
