Title: Non-Hermitian dynamics of a two-spin system with PT symmetry
(Submitted on 4 Sep 2022 (this version), latest version 30 Oct 2022 (v2))
Abstract: A system of two spins interacting via exchange that are under the influence of spin-polarized currents can be described using a complex functional, or a non-Hermitian (NH) Hamiltonian. We study the dynamics of the spins on the Bloch sphere. In the case of PT symmetry, we show that the nonlinear system exhibits oscillating motion related to the real eigenvalues of the linearized NH system. For the full nonlinear system, we derive two conserved quantities that furnish a geometric description of the spin trajectories in phase space and indicate stability of the oscillating motion. Our analytical results could provide tools for a more complete description of the dynamics of NH systems that are defined on the Bloch sphere.
