Title: Vacuum energy, the Casimir effect, and Newton's non-constant
(Submitted on 1 Nov 2022 (this version), latest version 6 Jun 2023 (v2))
Abstract: A comparison of the cosmological vacuum energy density with the vacuum energy density present in Casimir experiments shows qualitative and quantitative similarities. We explore the possibility that the quantum vacuum energy density contributes to a (local) gravitational energy density. This hypothesis has several important consequences, reaching from quantum scale-dependence to the prospect of novel experimental insight concerning the quantum origin of the cosmological energy density.
