Title: The hydrostatic equilibrium and Tsallis equilibrium for self-gravitating systems
(Submitted on 10 Jun 2004 (this version), latest version 25 Mar 2005 (v2))
Abstract: The stellar interiors are usually believed to be the hydrostatic equilibrium but never to be the thermal equilibrium, so the Maxwell-Boltzmann equilibrium distribution cannot provide an exact description for the non-isothermal configurations of self-gravitating systems. It is shown that Tsallis equilibrium distribution for self-gravitating systems describes the hydrostatic equilibrium and hence presents it a clear physics with regard to the non-isothermal nature of the systems with the long-range interactions.
