Title: Photoacoustic study of CsPbCl$_3$ crystals
(Submitted on 26 Jun 2003 (this version), latest version 4 Feb 2005 (v4))
Abstract: We have examined photoacoustic (PA) signals of CsPbCl$_3$ crystals in a wide temperature range of 77--300 K. The PA signals, induced by photoexcitation of electronic states and detected with a piezoelectric transducer, are found to consist of ultrasonic wave in the first hundreds of microseconds and of thermal wave in the sub-ms time range. The wavelet analysis of the PA wave has clarified that the ultrasonic wave includes several MHz components. We have also made use of the ultrasonic component of PA signals to examine phase transitions at low temperatures in the crystal. Leap of the group velocity of PA wave strongly suggests that phase transitions take place at low temperatures around 200 K.
