Title: Universality of Entropy Scaling in 1D Gap-less Models
(Submitted on 4 Nov 2003 (v1), revised 10 Jan 2004 (this version, v3), latest version 24 Jul 2005 (v4))
Abstract: We consider critical models in one dimension. We study the ground state in thermodynamic limit [infinite lattice]. We are interested in an entropy of a subsystem. We calculate the entropy of a part of the ground state from a space interval. At zero temperature it describes entanglement of the part of the ground state from the interval with the rest of the ground state. We obtain an explicit formula for the entropy of the subsystem at any temperature. At zero temperature our formula reproduce a logarithmic formula, discovered by G.Vidal, J.I. Latorre, E.Rico and A. Kitaev for spin chains. We proved our formula by means of conformal field theory and the second law of thermodynamics. Our formula is universal. We illustrate it for Bose gas with delta interaction and for the Hubbard model.
