Title: The difference in directed structure of Neural and Transcriptional Regulation Networks
(Submitted on 11 Jun 2004 (this version), latest version 5 Oct 2004 (v2))
Abstract: Two different types of directed networks are studied, transcriptonal regulating networks and neural networks. The difference in the directed structure for the networks and the effect of vertex removal are studied. To further investigate the effect of vertex removal dynamical models are put on the different networks. The transcriptional regulating networks are shown to have only a small number of vertices with a large influence quantified as the the number of downstream vertices, this limits the effect of random removal to affect only a small fraction of vertices. The neural network has a rather different topology in respect of the influence, which is large for most vertices. The applied dynamics however reduces the effect of vertex removal.
