Title: Dynamics of random replicators with Hebbian interactions
(Submitted on 20 Jul 2005 (this version), latest version 27 Nov 2005 (v3))
Abstract: Using path-integral methods we study the dynamics of a system of replicators interacting through Hebbian random couplings. We demonstrate how the problem can be formulated in terms of an effective single-species process in the thermodynamic limit, and how persistent order parameters characterizing the stationary states may be computed from this process. Numerical simulations confirm these results. While our findings are in agreement with static replica studies of the model, the analysis of the dynamics in addition allows an interpretation of two different types of phase transitions of the model in terms of memory onset at finite and diverging integrated response, respectively. The generating functional method discussed here may be extended to replicator models with asymmetric couplings, where replica theory is not applicable.
