For any algebraically closed field $K$ and any endomorphism $f$ of $\mathbb{P}^1(K)$ of degree at least 2, the automorphisms of $f$ are the M\"obius transformations which commute with $f$, and these form a finite subgroup of $\operatorname{PGL}_2(K)$. In the moduli space of complex dynamical systems, the locus of maps with nontrivial automorphisms has been studied in detail and there are techniques for constructing maps with prescribed automorphism groups which date back to Klein. We study the corresponding questions when $K$ is the algebraic closure $\bar{\mathbb{F}}_p$ of a finite field. We calculate the locus of maps over $\bar{\mathbb{F}}_p$ of degree $2$ with nontrivial automorphisms, showing how the geometry and possible automorphism groups depend on the prime $p$. Then, without restricting the degree to 2, we use the classification of finite subgroups of $\operatorname{PGL}_2(\bar{\mathbb{F}}_p)$ to show that every subgroup is realizable as an automorphism group. To construct examples, we use methods from modular invariant theory.

Title: Zero-Hopf bifurcation in a 3-D jerk system

We consider the 3-D system defined by the jerk equation $\dddot{x} = -a \ddot{x} + x \dot{x}^2 -x^3 -b x + c \dot{x}$, with $a, b, c\in \mathbb{R}$. When $a=b=0$ and $c < 0$ the equilibrium point localized at the origin is a zero-Hopf equilibrium. We analyse the zero-Hopf Bifurcation that occur at this point when we persuade a quadratic perturbation of the coefficients, and prove that one, two or three periodic orbits can born when the parameter of the perturbation goes to $0$.

Title: Localised Radial Patterns on the Free Surface of a Ferrofluid

This paper investigates the existence of localised axisymmetric (radial) patterns on the surface of a ferrofluid in the presence of a uniform vertical magnetic field. We formally investigate all possible small-amplitude solutions which remain bounded close to the pattern's centre (the core region) and decay exponentially away from the pattern's centre (the far-field region). The results are presented for a finite-depth, infinite-radius cylinder of ferrofluid equipped with a linear magnetisation law. These patterns bifurcate at the Rosensweig instability, where the applied magnetic field strength reaches a critical threshold. Techniques for finding localised solutions to a non-autonomous PDE system are established; solutions are decomposed onto a basis which is independent of the radius, reducing the problem to an infinite set of nonlinear, non-autonomous ODEs. Using radial centre manifold theory, local manifolds of small-amplitude solutions are constructed in the core and far-field regions, respectively. Finally, using geometric blow-up coordinates, we match the core and far-field manifolds; any solution that lies on this intersection is a localised radial pattern. Four distinct classes of stationary radial solutions are found: elevated and depressed spots, which have a larger magnitude at the core, and elevated and depressed rings, which have algebraic decay towards the core. These solutions correspond exactly to the classes of localised radial solutions found for the Swift-Hohenberg equation. Different values of the linear magnetisation and depth of the ferrofluid are investigated and parameter regions in which the various localised radial solutions emerge are identified. The approach taken in this paper outlines a route to rigorously establishing the existence of axisymmetric localised patterns in the future.

Title: Dimension paradox of irrationally indifferent attractors

In this paper we study the geometry of the attractors of holomorphic maps with an irrationally indifferent fixed point. We prove that for an open set of such holomorphic systems, the local attractor at the fixed point has Hausdorff dimension two, provided the asymptotic rotation at the fixed point is of sufficiently high type and does not belong to Herman numbers. As an immediate corollary, the Hausdorff dimension of the Julia set of any such rational map with a Cremer fixed point is equal to two. Moreover, we show that for a class of asymptotic rotation numbers, the attractor satisfies Karpi\'{n}ska's dimension paradox. That is, the the set of end points of the attractor has dimension two, but without those end points, the dimension drops to one.

Title: Population dynamics of Varroa mite and honeybee: Effects of parasitism with age structure and seasonality

Honeybees play an important role in sustaining the ecosystem. The rapid decline of their population have sparked a great concern worldwide. Field and theoretical studies have shown that the infestation of the parasitic Varroa mite could be one of the main reasons that lead to colony collapsing. In order to understand how mites affect population dynamics of honeybees and the healthy status of colony, we propose and study a brood-adultbee-mite model with time lag from brood to adult bee. Noting that the temporal dynamics of honeybee colony varies with respect to changes in seasonality, we validate the model and perform parameter estimations under both constant and fluctuating seasonality scenarios. We found: (a) In the presence of parasite mites, the large time lag from brood to adult could destabilize population dynamics and drive the colony to collapse; but the small natural mortality of adult has the ability to promote a mite-free colony as time lag is small or at an intermediate level; (b) Small brood's infestation rate could stabilize all populations at the unique interior equilibrium under constant seasonality while driving the mite to die out when changes in seasonality is taken into account; (c) Large brood's infestation rate can destabilize the dynamics leading to colony collapse depending on initial population size under constant and non-constant seasonal model; (d) Results from our sensitivity analysis indicate that the queen's egg-laying may have the greatest effect on colony size. The death rate of the brood and the colony size at which brood survivability is half maximal were also shown to be highly sensitive with an inverse correlation to the colony population size. Our results provide the dynamics generated by seasonality where the mite population dies out leaving healthy colony while all population goes extinct without seasonality.

We consider travelling times of billiard trajectories in the exterior of an obstacle K on a two-dimensional Riemannian manifold M. We prove that given two obstacles with almost the same travelling times, the generalised geodesic flows on the non-trapping parts of their respective phase-spaces will have a time-preserving conjugacy. Moreover, if M has non-positive sectional curvature we prove that if K and L are two obstacles with strictly convex boundaries and almost the same travelling times then K and L are identical.

In a previous work, we proved an index theorem for families of asymptotically hyperbolic discrete dynamical systems and obtained applications to bifurcation theory. A weaker and far more common assumption than asymptotic hyperbolicity is the existence of an exponential dichotomy. In this paper we generalize all our previous results to the latter setting, which requires substantial modifications of our arguments. In addition, we generalize previous results on continuity and differentiability of Nemitski operators for discrete dynamical systems to obtain even better bifurcation results.

Title: Frequency theorem for the regulator problem with unbounded cost functional and its applications to nonlinear delay equations

We study the quadratic regulator problem with an unbounded cost functional of general type. The motivation comes from delay equations, which has the feedback part with discrete delays (or, in other words, delta-like measurements, which are unbounded in $L_{2}$). We treat the problem in an abstract context of a certain Hilbert space, which is rigged by a Banach space. We obtain a version of the non-singular frequency theorem, which guarantees the existence of a unique optimal process, starting in the Banach space. We show that the optimal cost (that is the value of the quadratic functional on the optimal process) is given by the "quadratic form" of a bounded linear operator from the Banach space to its dual and this form can be used as a Lyapunov-like functional. For a large class of non-autonomous nonlinear delay equations in feedback form we obtain an analog of the circle criterion, which is a natural extension of the corresponding criterion for ODEs.
