Title: On varieties with Ulrich twisted normal bundles

Abstract: We characterize smooth irreducible varieties with Ulrich twisted normal bundle.
Comments: v2: we added some references and a new section; v3: we corrected a mistake in the proof of Thm.1 (we thank G. Casnati for pointing it out). The statement of Thm.1 has changed, allowing some surfaces in $\mathbb P^4$ and 3-folds in $\mathbb P^5$ with Ulrich twisted normal bundle (such as linear standard determinantal [KMR] and sect. 2); v4: added Prop.2.2, Rmk.2.3, Prop.3.1, Rmk.3.2 and sect. 5
