Title: End-to-end entanglement in Bose-Hubbard chains
(Submitted on 1 Dec 2008 (this version), latest version 29 Apr 2009 (v2))
Abstract: We study the ground state as well as the dynamics of chains of bosons with local interaction and nearest-neighbour exchange using numerical techniques based on renormalization group methods. We explore the development of entanglement between the sites at the ends of such chains as mechanisms are invoked to concentrate population in these sites. We find that long-range entanglement arises in chains with strong repulsion constants in the intermediate sites, both in ground state and through non-equilibrium dynamics. Additionally, it is shown that entanglement between the end sites can be made to increase above their ground state values by adding a perturbation.
