Title: Arbitrary high steady-state entanglement between non-interacting atoms via collective decay and adiabatic control
(Submitted on 12 May 2010 (this version), latest version 24 Sep 2010 (v2))
Abstract: A simple scheme is presented for achieving arbitrarily high entanglement between non-interacting atoms through cavity-assisted collective decay and adiabatic control. The scheme requires no measurements or feedback and is initialization-free, i.e., assumes no knowledge of the initial states of the atoms. We demonstrate how our scheme can be implemented for two qubits encoded in hyperfine levels of atoms such as Rubidium in a lossy microwave cavity using only small magnetic field gradient. The scheme relies on breaking the symmetry of the system Hamiltonian to ensure that the system has a unique and thus attractive steady state, and adiabatically varying the parameters to ensure that the final steady state is pure and overlaps almost perfectly with the singlet state.
