Title: Initial fluctuation effect on harmonic flow in high-energy heavy-ion collisions
(Submitted on 26 May 2011 (this version), latest version 19 Nov 2011 (v2))
Abstract: Within the framework of a multi-phase transport model, the partonic interaction cross section dependence of harmonic flow $v_n$ (n = 2, 3 and 4) is investigated. Triangular flow ($v_3$) is converted from initial triangularity ($\epsilon_3$), which is purely due to initial geometry fluctuation. The conversion efficiency ($v_n/\epsilon_n$) decreases with the order of harmonic flow but increases with the decreasing of partonic interaction cross section. Considering the event-by-event geometry fluctuation, a smaller cross section is found to describe flow data better. A number of constitute quark scaling ($v_n/n_q^{n/2} \propto KE_T/n_q$) is demonstrated for $n$-th harmonic flow. $v_n(p_T)$ ($n=2,3$) calculated by final momentum event-plane angles and initial geometry event-plane angles are similar, which indicates that triangular flow stemmed from initial fluctuation can be measured in experiment. Triangular flow is also presented as a function of transverse momentum in different centrality bins.
