Title: Continuous-Variable Measurement-Device-Independent Quantum Key Distribution
(Submitted on 17 Dec 2013 (this version), latest version 12 May 2014 (v3))
Abstract: We propose a continuous-variable measurement-device-independent quantum key distribution (CV-MDI QKD) protocol, in which all detections are conducted by an untrusted third party. Thus, our protocol can defend all attacks against detectors, which seriously threaten the security of a practical continuous-variable quantum key distribution system. The security analysis against arbitrary collective attacks is derived based on that the entanglement-based scheme of CV-MDI QKD is equivalent to the continuous-variable quantum key distribution with coherent state and heterodyne detection. The maximal total transmission distance is achieved by setting the untrusted third party close to one of the legitimate users. Furthermore, a new detection scheme for continuous-variable quantum key distribution is proposed as an special application of CV-MDI QKD.
