Title: Connecting high-field quantum oscillations to the pseudogap in the underdoped cuprates
(Submitted on 2 Jun 2014 (this version), latest version 3 Nov 2014 (v3))
Abstract: We show that a model of underdoped cuprates in which superconductivity competes with density wave order provides a unified description of quantum oscillations at low temperature and high magnetic fields, and photoemission spectra at intermediate temperatures and zero field. We treat quantum oscillations beyond semiclassical approximation and we find clear and robust signatures of the electron pocket proposed by Harrison and Sebastian (arXiv:1103.4181). We also describe the crossover from bidirectional (checkerboard) to unidirectional (stripe-like) density wave order. In the zero field, intermediate temperature regime we compute the photoemission spectrum in the presence of thermally fluctuating density and superconducting orders, and find general agreement with experimental trends.
