Title: Device-independent tests of time-like correlations
(Submitted on 9 Jun 2016 (v1), revised 22 Sep 2016 (this version, v2), latest version 16 Mar 2017 (v3))
Abstract: We consider input-output (I/O) tests for the characterization of time-like correlations, analogous to Bell tests for the characterization of space-like correlations. In an I/O test some information is given to a party and retrieved at a later time. Here, our aim is to falsify the hypothesis that the observed input-output correlation is compatible with an arbitrary given quantum channel. We provide a full characterization of the sets of binary correlations compatible with: i) any dihedrally-covariant qubit channel, such as any Pauli and amplitude-damping channels; and ii) any arbitrary-dimensional universally-covariant commutativity-preserving channel, such as any erasure, depolarizing, universal cloning, and universal transposition channel.
