Title: The decline of astronomical research in Venezuela

Abstract: During the last 15 years the number of astronomy-related papers published by scientists in Venezuela has been continuously decreasing, mainly due to emigration. If rapid corrective actions are not implemented, Venezuelan astronomy could disappear.
