Title: On the Cauchy problem for acoustic waves in hereditary fluids: decay properties and inviscid limits
(Submitted on 11 Jun 2021 (this version), latest version 19 Jan 2024 (v2))
Abstract: In this paper, we investigate some qualitative properties of solutions to the Moore-Gibson-Thompson (MGT) equation and the Jordan-MGT (JMGT) equation with memory of type I in the whole space $\mathbb{R}^n$, which are the fundamental models for acoustic waves in relaxing hereditary fluids. First of all, we study sharp estimates of solutions to the viscous and inviscid MGT equation with memory, where regularity-loss decay properties appear in the inviscid case. Then, not only formal expansion of solution with respect to the small sound diffusivity but also rigorous justification of inviscid limit in $L^{\infty}([0,\infty)\times\mathbb{R}^n)$ are derived by WKB analysis. Concerning the viscous JMGT equation of Kuznetsov-type and Westervelt-type in hereditary fluids, we prove global (in time) solvability and obtain some estimates of them. This paper studies acoustic waves in hereditary fluids from some different viewpoints comparing with the previous researches.
