Title: On percolation scaling in the random fuse model
(Submitted on 12 Nov 2003 (this version), latest version 9 Aug 2004 (v2))
Abstract: We test the validity of the percolation hypothesis to describe fracture in the random fuse model with strong disorder. Using large scale numerical simulations, we provide evidence against the existence of a percolation critical point ruling the scaling behavior of the model. The computed cumulative failure probability is universal in the sense that it can be collapsed for different lattice sizes and lattice topologies, and follows a normal distribution.
