Title: Double-dot transport in the spin blockade regime
(Submitted on 13 Sep 2006 (v1), revised 19 Oct 2006 (this version, v2), latest version 22 Aug 2007 (v4))
Abstract: The leakage currents of double quantum dot systems in the spin blockade regime have been attributed to hyperfine interactions. We model double-dot transport using a rate equation approach which accounts for phonon-assisted inter-dot and hyperfine flip-flop transitions. We are able to explain shoulders that appear in I-V curves near the edge of spin-blockade plateaus in terms of phonon assisted inter-dot tunneling. In agreement with experiment, we find current-instability and hysteretic behaviors on spin-blockade plateaus that follow in our model from an interplay between dynamic nuclear polarization and the dependence of electronic transition rates on Overhauser shifts.
