Title: Static Properties of Trapped Bose-Fermi Mixed Condensate of Alkali Atoms
(Submitted on 1 Jul 1999 (this version), latest version 3 Feb 2000 (v2))
Abstract: Static properties of a bose-fermi mixture of trapped potassium atoms are studied in terms of coupled Gross-Pitaevskii and Thomas-Fermi equations for both repulsive and attractive bose-fermi interatomic potentials. Density distribution of the fermi-type isotope is shown to directly reflect the effect of the potential in contrast to that of the bosonic isotopes. The bosonic distribution is, however, rather sensitively dependent on the trapping potential through which the overlap with fermionic isotopes may be maximized. It is suggested that a small fraction of fermions could be trapped without an external potential for the system with an attractive bose-fermi interaction.
