Title: The Landau--Lifshitz Equation by Semidirect Product Reduction

Abstract: The Landau-Lifshitz equations are shown to be the reduction of a geodesic flow on the group of maps into the rotation group, and passing the symmetries of spatial isotropy to the reduced space is shown to be an example of semidirect product reduction by stages.
