Title: Multiple-copy Entanglement Transformation and Entanglement Catalysis
(Submitted on 1 Dec 2003 (v1), revised 11 Dec 2003 (this version, v2), latest version 16 Jul 2005 (v6))
Abstract: We prove that multiple-copy transformation(or non-asymptotic bi-partite pure-state entanglement transformations [S.Bandyopadhyay, V. Roychowdhury, U. Sen,Physical Review A, Vol 65,052315]) can be implemented by catalyst-assisted entanglement transformation [D. Jonathan and M. B. Plenio, Phys. Rev. Lett. 83, 3566 (1999)]. Furthermore, we show that the mixing of multiple-copy transformation with catalyst-assisted one is still equivalent to pure catalyst-assisted one. We also present many interesting properties of multiple-copy entanglement transformation, which exactly coincide with those satisfied by catalyst-assisted one. These facts, together with numerous numerical calculations we have done, lead us to a conjecture that catalyst-assisted transformation and multiple-copy transformation are equivalent in the sense that they can be implemented by each other. A brief partial answer to Nielsen's conjecture about the characterization of catalyst-assisted transformation is also presented.
