Abstract: This paper has been withdrawn because a much better version, G. Gazzola, M. C. Nemes and W. F. Wreszinski - On the Casimir Energy for a massive quantum scalar field and the cosmological constant- Annals of Physics (N.Y.) vol. 324, 2095-2107 (2009) has appeared, which corrects several conceptual errors in the present one.
