Title: Calorimeters in Astro and Particle physics

Abstract: In this article an attempt is made to review some of the original works leading to new developments of calorimeters which are so widely and successfully used in astro and particle physics experiments. This report is far from being complete and the author apologizes for omissions and misquotations.
